Chapter 4 : The Hopeless Secretary Oh(2)
Something happened this morning.
[ Let's go easy on this. How come, recently aren't there many law students doing an internship in law companies? If I just think that Oh-Yoon-seo is part of this trend I would feel at ease! Law student…..
By the way, she probably could have forgotten her long-term celebrity life, it would be nice if she could help out with simple case hints. If that didn’t work, I would just get her to help with miscellaneous jobs or get her to know roughly how things work in the company. Right, that would be awesome. I will just hand her cushy jobs. Kwon Pro. Just get her to experience in being a lawyer’s secretary. Ah! Get her to make a copy or something like that. Isn’t it? Hahahahaha!]

On my way to work, as soon as I met president Yeon, he tapped on my back and said words that still ring in my ears
Jung-Rok puffed.
‘It’s easier said than done. Things needed to be taken care of are stacking like a pile of a mountain. How could you just let her do only copying documents.’
Things Jung-Rok wanted to say rose to his throat but he had to hold it back. Whether he likes it or not, he is confident that, in the end, he has to accept president Yeon’s proposal.
Tik Tok Tick Tok. The second hand of the wall clock moves at a steady speed. The hour hand and the second hand of the clock have no signs of stopping at all. Before he knows it, it’s already over 9 am.
Jung-Rok calmly looking around inside the office. And that small space situated in front of his room.
Secretaries of Always Law Firm must start working around 30 minutes before their lawyers,
so approximately at 8 am. They have to turn on their lawyers' computers in the office, arrange schedules for the day, leave documents on the desk, and open the office's windows to ventilate the air.
However......
'.......Late.'
The exact time of this moment is 9.45 am. Jung-Rok frowns while staring at the office door that doesn't seem to be opened at any time.
‘Why hasn’t she arrived yet?’
Jung-rok heard from President Yeon whom he met in front of the elevator that the goddess Oh-Yoon-seo will start working today straightaway.
A secretary whose duty is to work from 8 am, to be precise, 180 days from now on, and finished at 7 pm, somehow hasn’t started working yet although it’s nearly 10 am.
'Tsk.'
The long wait has come to an end, Jung-Rok couldn't help himself but get up from his chair. He wasn’t thinking of treating her in a special way for a bit, but if he lets things side, it’s obvious that this would interfere with his work.
Unfortunately, Jung-rok's plan to greet a person of interest while sitting in a chair inside his office with leisure posture seems to be unaccomplished.
Beep Beep
The alarm sounds rang up from his watch.
Moving towards the office lounge ploddingly, Jung-Rok saw Eun-Ji who is a secretary of Lawyer Choi-Jun-Hyuk at the corner of the room staring towards the office lounge. He speaks to her.
"Ah,Ms. Eun-Ji"
He must be under a delusion, but Eun-Ji’s face looks awkwardly sour when she turned around after hearing his call. She stares at Jong-Rok with a pouty face and called him ‘Lawyer Kwon’. Jung-Rok then tilted his head and asked.
"What’s…..the matter?"
Eun-Ji’s emotionless face is rather well-known. Jung-Rok has witnessed countless time the way Lawyer Choi complained about how he felt like working with a frozen doll. Jung-Rok threw in a question at Eun-Ji whose face has gotten stiff more than usual.
At that moment, Eun-Jin squinted her eyes.
"Lawyer Kwon"
"Yes?"
"Isn’t that your family over there?"
"Over there?"
Jung-Rok looks at Eun-Jin with a question ‘What do you mean?’ in this eyes. He shifted his gaze from Eun-Ji to the lounge area where her finger is pointing at.
“That’s awesome!’
Jung-Rok eyes widen when he discovered a familiar face sitting at the end of Eun-Ji’s gaze. Then he overheard Choi-Yun-Hyuk’s voice who obviously is extremely thrilled.
"I didn't know I would be seeing you in person. You look prettier than on TV!"
Yun-Hyuk who still couldn't comprehend how serious the situation around him speaks bashfully.
“Well, I actually have always been your fan. Hahaha. If you would excuse me, ahem, May I trouble you for just…...one signature?
Yun-Hyuk who speaks while scratching the back of his head clearly acts differently from his usual behavior. After giggling ridiculously, he hurriedly grouping inside his jacket for a memo notepad. Jung-Rok stands there for a while shockingly watching his fumbled behavior.
“Tch”
At then, a small tongue clicking sound can be heard right next to Jung-Rok. He turned his head around with a surprise, Eun-Ji's expressionless face that has gotten more severely wrinkled can be seen.
“Hold on, Lawyer Choi. You can’t get the signature only for yourself, you have to wait in lines.
The look of dissatisfaction doesn’t appear only on Eun-Ji’s face. The memo notepad that Yun-Hyuk once held it was passing over to ‘someone’. And that someone is these men in suits who came from somewhere and start blocking him.
“Right, Lawyer Choi. Can’t you see we are standing here?”
“Not just one or two”
“Even cold water should be first served to seniors, shouldn’t it? How about a junior like you behave like a junior?
Jung-Rok observes these associated attorneys of [Always] putting their hands on Yun-Hyuk’s shoulder without his knowledge.
“Right?”
Eventually, Eun-Ji threw a word at the speechless Jung-Rok.
‘Wasn’t the stock value decreased?’
Jung-Rok only recognizes who Oh-Yoon-seo is just once. No, how could he not recognize her at all? It would be bizarre to not notice her outpoured presence.
Jung-Rok glanced down at Eun-Ji who is gritting her teeth next to him. He finally understood why Eun-Jin has been making such shit-faced.
Jung-Rok holds back his breath and makes a step forward. This time, half of the lounge’s sight came into his vision without flaws.
‘Ah’
While carelessly verifying Oh-Yun-Seo's attire, embarrassment brushed across Jung-Rok's mind.
Quite a sight.
Is there any far more appropriate word than this one?
Jung-Rok frowns unconsciously.
If he has to briefly describe the attire of a woman who is named as Today’s Korean top Goddess, the details are as following.
First of all, a rich black fur coat that could flutter through the air seems a bit too much. It’s more for a midwinter awards ceremony or for the after party. He couldn’t believe his eyes that she is wearing a is a bright rubescent color shirt underneath. Furthermore, the black skirt that seems to be too short in his opinion narrowly covers her thighs.
Not to mention.
What exactly are those glamorously glittering accessories? And what on earth are those boots that do not match with the ambiance of this place?
For the icing on the cake, she is wearing a yellowish sunglasses while sitting in a chair crossing her legs. She is giving out a hint through her posture that ‘I am a celebrity’.
‘There should be a limit’
Jung-Rok thinks that he might have a knowledge why this woman whose sunglasses have almost blocked her tiny face appeared in such attire. Although she was over the hill, she still has a reputation. Therefore, she wouldn’t want to be neglected. Nonetheless, her present’s image is far cry from Jung-Rok’s expectation.
'Good Job'
Those 5 lawyers who are huddling around that woman laughing HEHE are no different from her. Jung-Rok clicked his tongue. What a shame, those 5 lawyers are his Always colleagues who work on the same floor with him.
"You guys are flattering me. Well, I am just an ordinary person."
The woman's glamorous gesture of sipping a coffee received from those male lawyers resembles a queen of a kingdom. Eun-Ji's laser gaze is shooting straight at the woman who is receiving compliments in an offbeat appearance.
'Phew.'
Somehow, Jung-Rok feels like he is having a splitting headache, he then exhales briefly.
Jung-Rok stepped forward after staring icily at Yun-Hyuk and other 4 lawyers who, with their dazzling eyes, repeatedly praising Oh-Yoon-seo whose behavior is ridiculously humble.
"Arg! Kwon,Kwon Pro!"
The lawyers who a while ago were giggling at the flashy woman became flabbergasted when they discovered that Jung-Rok was coming right behind them without their knowledge.
"What the... are you here already? Who called this dude!"
"What the heck! I didn't get a signature yet!"
"Kwon Pro. If you could just come back a bit later....."
"Are you Miss Oh-Jin-Shim?"
Jung-Rok completely ignores his colleagues who were startled by his appearance. He strides straight towards the center of the lounge and speaks directly to the woman who raised her head up after she saw a huge silhouette cast over her.
Although it was a short-lived moment, Jung-Rok has altered a grinning face of those men to a merely awkward lift at the corner of their mouths.
“Actually it’s Oh-Yoon-seo.”
Despite turning up at the office at 10 am instead of 8 am, she brusquely answered back while sitting in a chair with a laidback posture.
‘She is different from what I have heard’
A typically innocent actress who is far from being prickly seems to weaver for a bit.
Jung-Rok pretends he didn’t see his colleagues lawyers who silently shouting at him ‘You bastard!” with their broaden eyes while shaking their heads. Jung-Rok opens his mouth.
“Please stands up, Miss Oh-Jin-Shim”
“Excuse me?”
“I said please stand up”
“......!”
Jung-Rok talks to a woman who looks up at him with his wrinkled and narrowing forehead.
“The clock in time has already passed 2 hours. Don’t you think about start working any time soon?”
After detaching the woman from the whimpering 5 lawyers who didn’t want her to be taken away, Jung-Rok locked the door behind.
Jung-Rok completely ignores those displeased cry out from those lawyers. He turned around and face with Jin-Shim who intently staring at him. He then starts talking verbosely.
“I don’t know whether or not you have heard from the so-called manager, there are few rules Miss Oh-Jin-Shim need to while working as my secretary. First of all, you must be punctual with your clock in time. I detest a person who comes to work late. Secondly, you must be punctual with your clock out time. I detest a person who could not accomplish their task during working hours. And thirdly, if Miss Oh-Jin-Shim really did…...what are you doing now?”
As he was trying to discuss the last third rule, the woman turned around and hurriedly remove her black fur coat along with sunglasses. He discovered the truth.
He stares at the constantly smiling woman who looks contradict to his twisted face. She chuckled while speaks to Jung-Rok who is becoming more antagonistic.
“I must have introduced myself late.”
What?
“Nice to meet you, Lawyer Kwon. I am Oh-Yoon-seo.”
Jung-Rok frowns after hearing her speaking with such tranquillity manners. She continues.
“I’ve heard briefly from the CEO, it has been arranged that Lawyer Kwon will instruct me from now on……”
“And from what I heard……”
“......”
“Lawyer Kwon is an amazing person. I have high hopes for you. So from now please take good care of me.”
Jung-Rok felt like his head was snapped when that woman reached out her hand to him. He stared at her with a blank look on his face.
This is not gonna be easy.
A bitter smile stuck on her face.
“Lawyer Kwon?”
Although she first asked to shake their hands, Jung-rok’s unresponding gestures made her action looks awkward. She tilted her head while her big eyes are getting even bigger.
Jung-Rok was perplexed for a while then he budges his mouth.
“Miss Oh-Jin-Shim”
“Ho Ho, Mister Lawyer. I have already said it before my name is not Oh-Jin-Shim. It is Oh-Yoon……..”
“This is a company”
“......sorry?”
Therefore, there are things needed to be informed.
The woman hesitated to correct her own name. Jung-Rok icily speaks with a chilly voice.
“I don’t know that you have heard from your CEO, but our [Always] company is not a place where Miss Oh-Jin-Shim can run around.”
“Excuse me?”
“[Always] is a place where assistants and affiliated lawyers are busily engaged with work.”
“Ah,yes. I am aware of……”
“This is a place where we are constantly busy moving around in order to meet the maximum satisfaction of each request from individual clients. Therefore, to be honest, I am not pleased with a person like Miss Oh-Jin-Shim who seems to take things lightly.”
“......!”
Jin-Shim’s lips quivered with anger at Jung-Rok’s words that hit the nail.
However, Jung-Rok didn’t end here.
“Now that we are talking about this, I simply think of Miss Oh-Jin-Shim no more no less than a temporary secretary. Although you are a famous person as much as those from TV, that is somewhere outside this place. Therefore, it would be nice if Miss Oh-Jin-Shim has come to your own senses.”
“My own sense?
“Yes, if you are voluntarily becoming a secretary, should not you at least enter [Always] without causing any trouble with people who are working with their sincerity?”
“......!”
The woman’s body stumbling from Jung-Rok’s harsh words. This would make her understand, right? Jung-Rok felt the need to point out severed criticism once. He caught his breath for a while after spitting out those words.
“..............also”
Was it that moment?
After taking a deep breath, the woman slowly uttering her voice after hearing Jung-Rok issuing precautions while glancing down.
Grab tight
In no time, the woman stares at him while clenching her fist with all her might. Her shoulders trembling with anger and her pupils sway violently.
“I also didn’t come here to have fun!”
Jung-Rok eyebrows twisted when he heard the woman shouting in denial.
“I came over here to work hard! A lawyer like you doesn’t know me well. You haven’t seen me working even once. How could you say something like this?”
“Isn’t it prejudge? Judging by merely looking is all prejudge……!”
Jung-Rok approaches Jin-Shim with an angry look on his face while yelling at her.
Jin-Shim flinched while biting her lips when Jung-Rok suddenly approached her. Jung-Rok then speaks at her while looking down icily.
“Then if you don’t want me to prejudge you, shouldn’t you at least be punctual with your clock in time?"
“...............!”
He didn’t give her a chance to speak up her mind if ever she had a thought.
Jung-Rok gazed down at the woman who couldn’t reply back and respond to her nonchalantly.
“I don’t know what sort of existence you possess outside this place, at least within [Always] building you are no more no less than being a new employee. No, you can’t be treated as a permanent employee since you are a tempory secretary who would be working in a limited period.

Jung-Rok reminds of something we wanted to add as a warning to her.
“What’s with this look…..of a person who works as a secretary?”
“Excuse me?”
“Are you not in your right mind?”
The woman flew into a rage and replied fiercely at Jung-Rok.
“What, what are you saying?” what’s wrong with my look!”
“Are you really asking because you didn’t know?”
Jin-Shim puffed and couldn’t know answer back at Jung-Rok.
“It’s extremely repulsive. I am concerned that how would you able to properly make a copy of documents. Well, it doesn’t look like you were going to do it anyway.”
“Y...You! Have you said everything already?”
“Miss Oh-Jin-Shim”
“It isn’t Oh-Jin-Shim! I said it’s Oh-Yoon-seo!”
“Miss Oh-Jin-Shim”
Jung-Rok speaks carelessly to a woman whose face turned white like crumbling tissues.
“If you honestly wanted to work as a secretary, then you should first make a copy properly. Or would you just have an excursion here for half a year? If not, then, how about lift your white flag and throw it out?
“What………..what are you saying!”
It’s not that she didn’t hear, what exactly is her intention of asking?
Jung-Rok soon lost his interest and turned away from a woman who is quivering and glaring at him with a vicious look.
Not long after he turned away, the phone rings from his office. Jung-Rok acted if Jin-Shim doesn’t exist inside his office and pick you a receiver.
“Yes, I am Kwon-Jung-Rok”

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but not only loving Kwon Jung Rok and Oh Yeon staring with full of love to each other. But it's actually funny and worth to wait what's the next thing to arguing about between them hahaha!
